Therapies

At Singatha Centre, we believe that every child deserves the support they need to grow confidently in their own unique way. Our therapy offerings are thoughtfully selected to nurture development across physical, emotional, sensory, and social domains – all in a gentle, child-centered environment.

Here’s a deeper look at the therapies we offer:

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy at Singatha is all about empowering children to participate in the daily activities that bring independence and joy – like dressing, eating, learning, drawing, playing, and exploring. Many children on the autism spectrum experience challenges with sensory processing, fine/gross motor skills, or physical coordination. Our occupational therapists use play-based, engaging activities to gently guide development in these areas.

Whether it’s improving pencil grip, helping with transitions between tasks, or supporting self-regulation through sensory tools, OT helps children feel more confident in their bodies and more comfortable in their world.

Speech & Language Therapy

Communication is at the heart of connection – and we support every child in finding their unique voice. Our speech and language therapists work with children who may have difficulty speaking, understanding language, expressing needs, or using non-verbal communication.

Using a combination of visual aids, games, storytelling, and structured interaction, we help children develop language comprehension, vocabulary, sentence structure, and speech clarity. We also support the development of social communication skills – like turn-taking, greeting, or asking for help – which are crucial for meaningful interaction with peers and caregivers. At Singatha Centre, speech therapy is integrated into daily activities using the ‘push-in’ method, along with individual sessions.

Music Therapy

Music is a universal language – and at Singatha, it becomes a powerful tool for self-expression, emotional connection, and joyful learning. In music therapy, children engage in singing, playing instruments, moving to rhythm, and exploring sound. These activities help improve communication, regulate emotions, enhance focus, and encourage social interaction in a non-verbal, creative way.

For many children on the spectrum, music provides a safe and motivating space where they can express themselves without the pressure of words.

Action Ball

Movement is essential to a child’s development – and our kinetics sessions are designed to make physical activity fun, functional, and developmentally supportive. Physical education focuses on improving gross motor skills, muscle tone, spatial awareness, and coordination through structured movement games, obstacle courses, balance work, and stretching.

This is especially helpful for children who may struggle with motor planning, low muscle tone, or physical confidence. It also provides an outlet for energy and helps with emotional regulation through movement.

Horse Riding

There is something incredibly grounding and healing about being around horses. Our horse riding sessions allow children to connect with these gentle animals in a structured and supported environment. The rhythmic movement of riding helps improve balance, posture, coordination, and core strength, while the sensory experience of grooming and caring for the horse offers emotional and tactile benefits.

Beyond the physical, interacting with horses also builds confidence, self-awareness, relational bonding, and trust – making this experience both therapeutic and transformative.

A Holistic, Child-Centered Approach

Each of our therapies is integrated into a nurturing, non-judgmental environment where children are free to be themselves. We work closely with families, ensuring that progress in the classroom and therapy rooms carries over into everyday life. At Singatha Centre, we don’t just offer therapies—we offer connection, learning, care, and a celebration of every child’s unique path.
